100 Books and 31 Cents

Two small accomplishments to report today. I’ve sold my 100th book. 78 e-books and 22 paperbacks. 100 books in a little over 50 days. I actually know who my 100th customer is. My friend convinced this girl he’s been talking to on Tinder to buy the book. I’ll take promotion wherever I can get it.

I also got an e-mail informing me that my first pay-out will be deposited into my account back in Seattle. It’s my royalties for my sales on Amazon Germany. 31 cents. Actually, 31 eurocents. With the exchange rate, that equals 33 American cents.

It may not be much, but it’s the first money I’ve made with my writing. I’ve always been reluctant to call myself a writer because I was always working on something but never published or made a single dime with my writing. Now I’m (self-)published and I’ve made three dimes.

I still don’t introduce myself as a writer, but I’m sure it’ll come in time. More on my thoughts about identity in a later post….

  1. Progress! Congrats!

It’d be nice to even be among the higher paid of the bottom half. 10,000 pounds is 15,000-16,000 USD. I’d have to sell about ten times as many books to make that.

I’d be out looking for publicity now, rather than 10 years ago from a pay phone in Daegu.
